My Art
After watching four kids grow into adults, attending seminary, and co-teaching in a preschool class for Grand Rapids Public Schools, I am once again playing in the mud and loving it.

My Life
I was like most kids when I was growing up. Playing in the dirt was almost a daily affair. Also like most kids I grew out of that stage. Spending more and more time in school and reading. Very little time was left for sand and dirt toys. So, they sat quietly in a closet collecting dust.

In upper elementary and through high school, and even beyond, drawing became a part of my life. I studied some of the old artists and listened to some of the old music. When it came time for college I had two choices - math or art. I chose art and that is where it all started.

I graduated from Western Michigan University with a degree in Art with a teaching certificate and an emphasis in pottery, along with a minor in Drawing and Design...and one child. Since then, I have been making pottery off and on through the years. Along the way a daughter came along. I divorced and raised two kids for eight years when I met my current wife. She brought two boys along with her. We became a blended family with three boys and one girl. Raising children and working for an office manufacturer required a lot of time. So there were many years away from pottery with an occasional pilgrimage back.

My goal as a potter is to produce pieces that are a delight on the eyes and the persons spirit. I prefer color over earth tones, and the unique and fun over the serious and stately. Each one is unique in color, size, shape, or tilt. That's the way I like it - no two alike. The world needs more color, uniqueness, and fun. It is my hope that my pottery will delight your eyes and your spirit.
